Maintaining your car between rounds
The days after an event are the right time for a thorough inspection. Start from the bottom: underbody protection, suspension arms, bushes, driveshafts and brake lines all take heavy punishment on rough roads.
Fluids tell a story. Metal particles in gearbox or differential oil, a milky colour in coolant or a sudden drop in brake fluid can all point to problems that are easy to fix now and costly to fix later.
Wheels and tyres deserve a careful look. Check for cracks around the rim, bent edges and uneven wear that might hint at alignment changes. Rotate and balance before the next event.
Keep a simple logbook. Note every part replaced, every torque value and every unusual noise. It makes troubleshooting easier and gives you a clear record when it is time to sell.
Finally, give the car a proper clean. Mud hides cracks and leaks, and it traps moisture against metal. A pressure wash and a quick look with a torch can reveal things you would otherwise miss.
